Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to comments on social media following the evacuation of a 1-year-old child from Gaza on Thursday evening.
"Bravo, beautiful advertisement, you are leaving Albanian children to die. I have to pray to God that there are some charitable associations that are kind-hearted Albanians and do charity for you...", one comment read.
"Any Albanian child who seeks help for treatment abroad has not even impressed you or has no problem. You just have to do well outside Albania because inside you don't feel at all that you have Albanians in your small pocket," another comment read.
Rama responded directly to both. He stated that the Albanian government does not let its children die. On the contrary, according to him, every year 46 thousand children receive services in the pediatric wards of our country. 15 thousand of them receive assistance at the QSUT and an average of 2400 children are successfully operated on.
"I took a quick look at the comments on the post about the family in Gaza that we hosted to provide emergency medical assistance to their 1-year-old child. Now I have it with you Daniel and you namesake. I'm curious, when you write these things are you serious or just my mother-in-law's anger and boom in the miller's bed. For anger for the government to lead to the point of talking so blatantly, this is to fall for yourself and spread lies on their behalf who after the lie have been caught like a drowning man by a blade of grass and you know who I'm talking about," Rama said.
Rama added, among other things, that Albania sends an average of 25 children abroad for treatment, more than the associations, which he nevertheless thanks for their "undeniable" commitment.
Regarding the evacuation case, he said that it came as a result of the request of international partners from the evaluation of pediatric services in our country.
"I greet you with the hope that you will have more respect for the truth, that is, for yourself, and less zeal to spread poison and lies. That the family that came from Gaza came at the request of international partners and as a result of the appreciation for our pediatric service. Some families, one of which came to Albania, were taken to several European countries where the pediatric service is appreciated. Instead of becoming the spreaders of lies of those you know well who they are, hold them accountable for not doing this job with anger. You have anger in this government, but you will have it again here. Anger is neither a program nor an alternative. A program and an alternative are something else that those who use you as a spokesperson for their lies lack," said Rama.
We recall that while the 1-year-old child was hospitalized, his father, brother and sister were accommodated in the refugee center in Babrru, Tirana.
