Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reacted to news published the day before about a possible termination of the migrant agreement with Italy in 2030.
The statement went viral in several international media outlets and was widely commented on after an interview by Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha in a foreign media outlet.
After the reactions, the minister initially reacted, stating that his statement had been misunderstood by the media, and then came the statement from Prime Minister Edi Rama, emphasizing that the agreement on the migrant centers in Gjadra "will remain in force as long as Italy wishes it to."
"To all journalists from Italy and beyond who are contacting us regarding an incorrect quote published by a media outlet after an interview with the Albanian Foreign Minister: I want to reiterate, clearly and hopefully once and for all, that our Protocol with Italy will remain in force, as long as Italy wishes it to be," Rama wrote on X.
While sharing Prime Minister Rama's post, Meloni accompanied it with the caption "Thank you, Edi."
