"Europe in a pre-war era", the Polish Prime Minister: I am not
Donald Tusk

Europe is currently in a "pre-war" era, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

In an interview with German newspaper Die Welt, Tusk said the continent needed to increase defense investment, adding that Europe was in a situation "unseen since 1945".

"I know it sounds devastating, especially for the younger generation, but we have to get used to the fact that a new era has begun: the pre-war era. I'm not exaggerating - it's becoming clearer every day."

Tusk went on to say that "war is no longer a concept from the past".

"The most worrying thing right now is that literally any scenario is possible. We have not seen such a situation since 1945,” he added.
