Names/ Who are the 9 former political convicts who will receive 320 million ALL

A fund of 32 million new lek has been allocated by the government for the financial compensation for the families of 9 former political prisoners from the communist regime among them and 2 shot without trial.

It is about Razip Zeqir Zenelaj, shot without trial for "political motives", on August 20, 1947, in Kuta te Fierit, and Ali Selfo Demko (Panariti), shot without trial in November 1944. The fund approved as financial compensation is for each family 4.9 million ALL.

For 7 others Gjysho Shefit Sadikaj, Mufit Ilmi Hoxha, Iljas Telha Serjani, Pavlo Ziso Memo, Neim Selfo Haxhiaj, Vangjel Anastas Dhjamandi, Prel Tom Smajelaj (Georgia), a fund of 22 million ALL has been approved as financial compensation. In list A of the beneficiaries, there are former political convicts sentenced to imprisonment, solitary confinement in the investigator, solitary confinement in a medical or psychiatric medical institution.

The distribution of compensation for former political prisoners is done in installments.

The compensation was approved at the government meeting on 24 August 2023 and the decision was published in the official gazette on 29 August 2023

Who was Ali Demko Selfo
He was born in Korça, in 1903 or 1906. He completed commercial school in Rome.
In November 1944, he was shot by partisan squads. Pursuant to Law no. 7514, dated September 30, 1991, of instruction no. 2, dated January 4, 1992 of the Council of Ministers, the commission set up for the verification of the serving of the sentence of deprivation of liberty, the fact of the death of the person without being convicted and those shot without trial, in the meeting of February 7, 1992, decided the verification of the fact of the extrajudicial killing for "political motives" of Ali Selfo Panariti, in November 1944

Who was Razip Zeqir Zenelaj?

He was born in Vajza, Vlora, in 1917.
On December 21, 1993, the Vlora District Court decided to recognize the legal fact of extrajudicial killing for "political motives" in an effort with the forces of the dictatorship, on August 20, 1947, in Kuta Fier.
