Euglena Hyseni, an Albanian immigrant in Italy, told "MCN" about her experience in the neighboring country. Hyseni said that despite the difficult start, he sees the future in Italy and not in Albania.
She said that she had nothing left in Albania at the end of the month. Hyseni considered security for the future in Albania as an "alarming situation".
"I can't call myself a student, I finished my studies in International Relations. I had experiences in Albania in private businesses and media, but I didn't find that space, that opportunity to grow, to reach where I had a dream . This has pushed me to emigrate to Italy, a neighboring country, but which actually has many changes. Italy has also been affected by the financial crisis, but when I was in Albania I saw myself more affected, but here we have more spaces, more freedom. In Albania I paid for education a fee of 600 thousand lek, while here it is only 15 euros per year. I am continuing to study again in Italy, to perfect the language, and to find spaces to enter the market of work again. In Albania there is no center of any kind that supports young people, people, both economically and financially.
Here everywhere you can find caritas centers that provide food and clothing. You can go to the municipality and ask for a shelter. At the moment I do not feel very safe here in Italy, because I have not yet found myself, the space where I will reap my income. But I feel safer here. Where in Albania there was nothing left from the monthly salary. I never plan to go back. I understand that it will be a difficult beginning, but I would rather take the risk of starting than to continue in Albania, when I know that the way I was before 5 years, the same way I will be after 5 years. Security for the future in Albania is an alarming situation. All of my family are running away," she said.
