An Albanian citizen was executed by firing squad today in Ecuador.
Ecuadorian media report that it is about the 53-year-old Albanian Arjanit Rizaj, who was executed with a firearm in front of the "Luis Vernaza" hospital, where he had accompanied his wife and was standing inside a parked vehicle.
Residents and some sellers of the area who saw the incident declared to the police that the Albanian was shot at by a white motorcycle on which two people were moving. The perpetrators left in the defendant's direction after committing the murder.
According to preliminary information from the National Police of Ecuador, the killers used a 9 mm caliber firearm.
Initially, Rizaj was sent to the "Luis Vernaza" hospital emergency room, and then to the "Panamericana" clinic, where doctors tried to keep him alive, but the wounds caused by the firearm were severe, causing his death.
The wife of the 53-year-old Albanian has stated to the investigators that she saw the scene from very close.
She told the officers that she did not know the motive for the attack on her husband. According to her, Rizaj did not work because he did not have valid documents in Ecuador, therefore he survived on the money sent to him from Albania by his family, or by his brother who lived in Canada.
The murder happened on the same day as the arrest of the cocaine traffic boss Dritan Rexhepi, who was handcuffed today in Turkey, however it is not known if they are related to each other.
