Serious in Greece: 51-year-old Albanian accused of abusing his 8-year-old niece

A particularly serious case of sexual abuse of a minor is being investigated by authorities in Corfu, where a 51-year-old Albanian man is accused of systematically abusing his 8-year-old granddaughter, inside the family home, in a village in the central part of the island.

According to Protothema, the matter began to unravel after the 8-year-old visited a doctor with her mother.

During the examination, the doctor allegedly found signs that referred to abuse and notified the child's mother.

The mother then went to the police and filed a report, launching an investigation to uncover what had happened and how long the alleged abuse had lasted.

From the preliminary investigations, according to information so far, data has been obtained that led to the arrest of the 51-year-old. The Albanian appeared today, September 10, before the prosecutor, where he requested a deadline to give his testimony and according to Greek media, he denied the charges.

The child's parents have also filed a criminal report, while preliminary investigations are ongoing.

Police are trying to determine the duration of the alleged abuse, the exact circumstances in which it occurred, as well as any other elements that may help fully unravel the case.
