He fired a firearm from the apartment where he held his 2 minor children hostage, after several hours of negotiations, RENEA entered the apartment and released the children.

Also, RENEA put the perpetrator in handcuffs and confiscated his Kalashnikov firearm.

At around 02:20, the Durrës Police were notified that gunshots were heard in the premises of a building, in a rented apartment, near the area called "Kavaja Rock".

Immediately, the police services went to the scene of the incident and the first actions showed that the apartment from where the gunshots were fired was rented for a week by citizen AM, 40 years old, a resident of Lezhë, and that it was suspected that this citizen was inside it. held his 2 minor children, 6 and 11 years old, hostage.

The Durrës Police requested the help of the "RENEA" Special Department, as specialized intervention was needed to avoid endangering the lives of the children in the apartment and of the Police employees.

The "RENEA" Special Department went to the scene, which called on the 40-year-old to surrender, but he continued to shoot from the window of the apartment.

After several hours of negotiations, by the Negotiation Unit of the "RENEA" Department, and with the specialized intervention of the RENEA units, in cooperation with the structures of the DVP Durrës, under high security measures, it became possible to neutralize and capture the citizen AM, in whose apartment a Kalashnikov firearm, a comb with cartridges, as well as 18 cartridges were found inside the apartment.

Also, the Police took out the 2 children, who are in good health and are being assisted by psychologists.

The 40-year-old man was taken to the Police for further procedural actions.
