A serious event has shocked the Bica family and the Labinot Fusha area in Elbasan this afternoon, after two minor children from this family drowned in the Shkumbin River while they went in to bathe.

A family relative has revealed details of the serious incident to the media, indicating that the two brothers were found by a guard at a nearby hydroelectric power plant, in a hole created in the water in the shape of a dam.

He said he attempted to provide first aid to one of the children by performing artificial respiration, but the minor did not respond.

"I was at work, I saw the police, I saw them coming running. A gentleman who works at the hydroelectric power plant, he had a child in his arms. I saw the mother who was crashing here, I don't know where the father ran to... I know them, I have my people, I also ran. They have livestock, they take them out of the gravel, they live with them. The parents keep the cows, these keep the small livestock, the sheep.  Further on, a big hole was made, they set up an ambush, and the hydroelectric power plant guard found them there. The police had a child in his arms, I took him and gave him artificial respiration, there was no reaction at all. They would come to my work every day, fill him with water, they would stay there when it was hot ," he said.

Meanwhile, the Bica family's neighbors were also seen at the scene, and they expressed extreme shock at the incident.

"Condolences to the family, I have my villagers. I heard about the incident and came here, I came to collect the cattle. They were here with the cattle. A great tragedy, there is nothing more shocking ," said one of the neighbors.

Two boys, aged 7 and 9, brothers, drowned while tending livestock with their mother. They reportedly went into the water to bathe, but the strong current and lack of safety meant they were unable to reach shore.

Local residents and emergency forces who arrived there tried to help them, but unfortunately, the minors' bodies were found a short time later in a river channel below.

The incident has shocked the entire area, while the families of the victims, relatives and fellow villagers, are in a serious psychological state. Authorities have launched investigations to clarify the full circumstances of this tragedy.

In the village of Labinot, it is suspected that two children aged 7 and 9 (brothers) accidentally drowned in the Shkumbin River.

The bodies are being transported for forensic examination.

The investigation team and the Police services are at the scene and continue to work to fully clarify the circumstances.
