The former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, appeared again at the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office, where he was questioned again this Friday.
In a speech to the media at the SPAK exit, Beqaj said that he is convinced that his right will be met in court and not in the prosecutor's office.
As for the investigative documents for which SPAK has decided an amount of 120 thousand ALL to withdraw them, the former minister said that when he requested the documents, he was presented with an order from the chancellor that speaks of third parties. He said that he should "separate" whether he is a person under investigation or a third party related to this case.
"I am convinced that what I think is my right will be faced in court and not in the prosecutor's office. First, I have tried to be in institutional relations with the justice bodies, but for your interest, as you know, I am a person under investigation for four months. I come here every Friday to appear in implementation of a court decision as a person under investigation, meanwhile when I asked for the documents I was presented with an order of the chancellor that speaks of third parties. Then I want to share, I am a person under investigation or a third party. As a third party, of course, there are other issues, but I am a person under investigation and the general instruction of the SPAK of September speaks of a record that the prosecutor keeps records of expenses and not the person under investigation. I want to share whether I am a third party or a person under investigation".
Meanwhile, regarding the implementation of the sterilization contract, Beqaj said that he has asked to investigate the advantages that this contract has brought.
"I asked to investigate why it was not put to work for two and a half years, but it was kept there when the need was screaming. I asked to investigate the advantages that this contract has brought compared to the time when the sterilization plant was not used."
Beqaj is being investigated under the security measure "compulsion to appear and ban on leaving the country" for abuse of office and violation of the equality of participants in public tenders or auctions, criminal offenses committed in cooperation.
The decision signed by Judge Erjon Bani came after the investigation into the sterilization issue and was taken on November 16, 2023. Since then, Beqaj has appeared before the Judicial Police every Friday.
The measure against Beqaja came after the Special Court suggested to the prosecution to extend the investigations for the sterilization concession to the responsibilities of 6 other people, including the former Minister of Health, the former Minister of Finance, Shkëlqim Cani, as well as four commissioners. of procurements.
