The Court of Saranda has ordered the security measure of "arrest in prison" for a period of 45 days for the six arrested, suspected of being involved in the incident where the Head of Crimes of the Saranda Consular Office, Mateo Bakalli, was raped.
We recall that the decision was given yesterday afternoon by Judge Shkëlzen Licaj, after a court session that lasted several hours. The prosecution had requested the legal assessment of the arrest in flagrante delicto and the imposition of the measure "Arrest in prison" for Ardit Kasemi, Besnik Sulovari, Elgent Ndoj, Faik Hoxha, Indrit Çullhaj and Marjo Katirain.
All six people remain under investigation for the incident, while the prosecution is expected to continue investigative actions to fully document the circumstances and responsibilities of each of them.
We recall that according to the investigations so far, Mateo Bakalli intervened to prevent the escalation of a fight, but even after he introduced himself as a police officer, he was attacked and physically beaten, suffering hematomas in his eyes and other injuries to his face and body.
