A 68-year-old man was taken hostage in the middle of the city of Tirana and the 5 perpetrators kept him in a locked apartment in exchange for 2 million new lek for his release.

The police have managed to arrest the 5 perpetrators, the two brothers Clinton and Sulejman Sina , 21 and 31 years old, Idajet Mashollari , 21 years old, Bajram Ibraliu, 57 years old, and Nikoleta Begolli, 32 years old.

68-year-old  Edvar Agalliu  was in the center of the city of Tirana, on one of the most populated streets, "George W. Bush", when 3 of the perpetrators stopped the car and took it by force.

After putting him in the vehicle, Sulejman, Klinton Sina and Idajet Mashollari drove towards the village of Kakunjë, where they isolated the 68-year-old in an abandoned apartment for 5 hours.

The conflict between them started on the street, where one of the perpetrators claimed to have harassed his fiancée, Nikoleta Begolli, and after a heated argument, the 68-year-old man forcibly took her into his car and drove her to a village on the border with Elbasan.

The 68-year-old stated to investigators that he only knew Begolli, but never harassed her, but the 32-year-old herself stated the opposite.

After the man was taken, he was not raped, but only tied up and pressured.

After holding him hostage in the rented apartment, the perpetrators called his wife, whom they blackmailed for the 68-year-old's life and demanded 2 million new lek. The 68-year-old called his wife to bring the money and was then released.

The wife handed over the amount to Bajram Ibrali in the Sauk area of Tirana.

The entire moment of the hostage-taking was filmed by security cameras and the police were able to identify and arrest all the perpetrators.

One of the perpetrators testified to the Tirana Police that the 68-year-old had harassed his fiancée, Nikoleta Begolli.

From the checks carried out by the police, in the apartments of the 5 perpetrators and the vehicle in which Nikoleta Begolli and Sulejman Sina were traveling, 1,746,000 lek suspected of being obtained through threats from the wife of the 68-year-old man were found and seized. Also, in the apartment where he was held hostage, the rope with which the 68-year-old man was tied was found.
