The testimony of the Albanian who saw the bus fall from the overpass in Venice:
generosity

An Albanian witnessed the tragic accident that happened on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in Mestre, Venice, Italy, where a bus fell from the overpass and ended up on the railway line in Mestre, causing 21 deaths.

Bujar Bucaj, who is the owner of a bar in that area, saw the whole scene from where he worked and immediately went to give first aid.

In an interview for Tcgom24, he shares the moments of horror.

"I was working in my restaurant which is in front of the railway. From the window of the bar, I saw the bus that crashed. When I saw the big smoke I ran. I crossed the railroad tracks and went there. I saw the bus crashed and there were people screaming'
Bujari says that he tried to help but there was no support from other people who saw and took pictures or called the emergency waiting for their arrival.

"Since I come from a place where I lived the war, I know what it means when people are in trouble. I ran alone. There were other cars, they stopped but no one came to help me. I was looking for help.
He says that he managed to get a girl out of the bus

There was a girl I managed to get away from. Then 3 people got out of the bus, but I don't know how they did it. There was a 16-year-old girl, a 20-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man. They managed to get out before the police arrived. " he says.
He says that he managed to save the girl's brother as well. He says he asked for help but no one answered.

"Brother and sister. The girl was no more than 3 years old while the brother was almost 10 years old. They were looking for the mother. I then panicked as I was alone in the middle of that smoke. Then the fire happened. I called for help. Upstairs there was people who were filming.
Bujar says that 12 minutes after the accident, a police patrol came and then the firemen came, while the two little ones saved by him were admitted to the hospital.

He tries to tell what he saw from that tragic accident.

"My restaurant has a large glass window. I was watching the traffic when I saw something crash. I thought that a bridge collapsed, as it caused a lot of smoke," says Bujar Bucaj, rejecting the thesis that the bus was engulfed in flames before it crashed.
"I did not see flames at first. The fire broke out after 8-10 minutes," he says

A serious accident took the lives of 21 people, among them 3 children. Meanwhile, 15 others were injured, where 4 of them are in a serious state of health.

The Prefect of Venice, Michele di Bari announced that all the victims of the accident have been identified. It is about 21 victims: nine Ukrainian citizens, four Romanians, three Germans, one Italian (driver), one Croatian, two Portuguese and one South African.

Among them was a newly married Croatian couple. Antonela Perkovic and Marco Bakovic got married just 20 days ago. Antonela, 24 years old, died from the tragic accident, while Marko is in the hospital.
