The mother of Albanian Myrto, who tragically lost her life on April 14, 2026 in Argostoli, has spoken about her relationship with the 19-year-old, giving shocking details about her daughter's death.
In her testimony to Greek media, she described Myrto as a humble and kind girl who was studying to become a microbiologist assistant at a vocational college in Argostoli.
She said that the night before the tragic event, she knew that Myrto would go out for a routine walk with her boyfriend, without any sign that anything unusual was going to happen. Leaving for her night shift at the hospital, she saw his car outside the house, but did not speak to him.
"On Easter Monday, around 9:55 p.m., the three of us were at home, with her father. Myrto came out of the room and asked us if she was dressed nicely. We talked about her clothes.
I knew she was going out for a walk with D., but her father didn't know, as he was very strict and we hadn't told him about her relationship. He was overly protective of her, constantly calling her when she went out, but Myrto had a big soft spot for her.
"That night I left the house to go to work, as I work as a nurse, and as I was leaving I saw D.'s car, which was waiting for Myrto, but we didn't speak to each other at all, as I didn't know him," she told Protothema.gr.
The most dramatic moment was when she was confronted with her daughter's body in the hospital. She said she was at home when she was notified of the case and, upon arriving at the hospital, was confronted with the frozen faces of her colleagues. Before they gave her the terrible news, she confessed that the doctors gave her sedatives.
"On the morning of 14.04.2026, I had left work a little early and was at home. A colleague called me and told me that I had to go to the hospital immediately, without giving me any explanations. I thought something had happened to a case I was treating.
When I arrived, I saw frozen stares and felt that something serious had happened. Before they could say anything to me, they gave me a sedative.
I remember begging the doctors to do everything they could to save my child, even telling them to take my heart and give it to her.
"The only thing I remember is running towards her. I didn't want to believe that my child had died ," she confessed.
