" The world fights for the rights of all women, except when they are Israeli" .

This is how the Israeli ambassador to Albania, Galit Peleg, expresses her feelings, who in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the Albanian Daily News, Alqi Koçiko, also criticizes the lack of reaction of Albanian women leaders regarding the treatment of Israeli women hostages on March 8.

Asked about International Women's Day and her feelings in this period of war, she says that at this moment her thoughts go to the women and girls taken hostage.

" Even in Israel, International Women's Day is a marked day, where the need for equal rights for women is emphasized, but this year is different. This year we can no longer talk about concepts like empowerment and equality when women's basic rights to freedom are being violated by terrorists in Gaza.

Coincidentally, four days before March 8, the UN special representative on sexual violence in conflict released a report after visiting Israel. The report backed up what Israel has been claiming for nearly 5 months, about the horrific sexual assaults carried out by Hamas terrorists on October 7.

He also refers to the situation of the 19 female hostages still in the hands of Hamas, along with the 115 Israeli men held in Gaza.

The whole world should speak up and call for their immediate release. Unfortunately for FIVE MONTHS women's organizations around the world have not made a sound. Why? Tell me ," she says.

" During the International Women's Day weekend, we showed a clip showing the faces of hostage women on the advertising screens around Skenderbej Square and the Block area, to raise awareness of this important issue. We invited an Israeli master of martial arts, Dr. Guy Spak, who trained Albanian women who have suffered from domestic violence and also held a lecture on this topic at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Tirana.

In addition, I personally sent a letter to many women leaders in Albania, including members of the government, parliament, women's organizations and even foreign ambassadors in Tirana and sent them a link to the UN report.

In this message I asked them to raise their voice for the hostages. Unfortunately, until this moment I have not received any response. Zero.

Again, I don't know why women lawyers are fighting for the defense of those Israeli women who are being held hostage by terrorists, taken and not protected by any law, not visited by the Red Cross or any other international organization. It's like the world is fighting for the rights of all the women in the world, except when they're Israeli.

So when you ask me about my thoughts on this special day dedicated to women, all that comes to my mind are Shiri, Noa, Arbeli, Romi, Doron, Agam, Karina and others. Their photos are in front of my eyes 24 hours a day, until they return home ," says Mrs. Peleg, among other things.
