TRAGIC balance in the NEW year 2026: 7 DEAD in 5 days from accidents!

The year 2026 has begun with a high number of accidents on the country's roads.

In just 5 days, 7 citizens have lost their lives.

A total of 20 road accidents occurred from Thursday to this Monday.

The most serious incident was recorded three hours after the New Year's Eve, on the Gjirokastër-Tepelena road , where three young people lost their lives, who were traveling in a Volkswagen vehicle.

A 19-year-old girl was also seriously injured as a result of the accident.

A day later, on January 2, in the early hours of the morning, another accident was recorded on the " Lezhe-Milot " road axis, in a place called Gocaj .

A man and a woman were killed in this accident, and three other people who were traveling in the other vehicle were injured.

The next day, on Saturday, January 3, the Krrabës bus hit a 46-year-old man who was crossing the road.

The accident occurred near a place called Fisherman's Bridge, the bus driver was arrested by the police.

Another pedestrian, a 68-year-old man, lost his life on Sunday. On the new port road in Durres, he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man.

Data shows an increase in the number of accidents in the first days of the year, as during the first week of January 2025, 3 serious accidents were recorded, resulting in the deaths of 4 citizens.
