The rush to return home the day before his birthday took the life of a 20-year-old man on the Tirana-Durres highway.

Young Sabri Kreka is listed in INSAT's balance sheet among 188 people who lost their lives or were injured in 147 accidents in November.

From this balance, it is estimated that there were about 5 accidents per day during the month of November, however, the figures show a decrease compared to the same period a year ago.

INSTAT announces that in November of this year, there were 20 fewer accidents and 24 fewer injured or dead than in November 2023.

Despite this slight decrease, for the 11-month period from January to November, accidents have had a significant increase.

During this period, 1,517 accidents were recorded, an increase of 34% compared to the same period last year, when a total of 1,128 accidents occurred. The number of people injured also increased by 36%, exceeding 2,000.

Regarding accident mortality, according to INSTAT, during the period January-November 2024 it is 9.8 per 100 accidents, down from 15.7 in the same period a year ago.

Road accidents, in over 90% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 25-34 year old age group.
