The Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime communicated this Wednesday to the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha that it has filed a charge of passive corruption of high officials against him.

Lawyer Eugen Beçi, former Prosecutor of Serious Crimes, speaking about the acceptance of Sali Berisha as a defendant by SPAK, said that procedurally the Special Prosecution has advanced, formalizing the charge.

Beçi said that from the procedural point of view, it is unlikely that we will have an easing of the security measure against Sali Berisha until the end of the trial.

"In terms of procedure, SPAK, with the act of accepting Berisha as a defendant, must state the new evidence that has advanced the case.

At the moment the defendant was taken, SPAK no longer has any possibility to close the case, which means that SPAK has either strengthened the evidence it had or found new evidence. This is the procedural side" , said Beçi in the show "Open".

He said that the file, as it was said to consist of 500 pages, should include new evidence, or reinforcement of the evidence it had, and this remains a challenge for SPAK.
