A drug trafficker, who was involved in cocaine shopping worth more than 4.7m euros in just three months, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Fatjon Curtis, 34, used the encrypted communication platform EncroChat to buy and sell at least 58kg of cocaine between 26 March and 2 June 2020.
Curtis, a resident of Newport Court near Leicester Square in central London, orchestrated the deals on EncroChat using the nickname 'Botarta'. He was arrested on November 25 last year.
The young Albanian had created a company called E&T Catering, which had been registered with his home in an attempt to avoid detection, although it did not exist as a functional catering business.
EncroChat was "broken" in 2020 by Interpol.
Although there are no real identities on EncroChat, officers confirmed that Curtis was Botarota after location data for encro phone showed it operated mainly in London.
