The father of Gramsci's Russian spy denies the accusations against his son:
Yuri Zorin and the Russian spies

Mikhail Zorin is one of the Russians arrested in Albania who were caught at the Gramsci military plant and are suspected of being part of Russian espionage.

But his father, Yuri Zorin, categorically denies the accusations that the boy is part of Russian espionage agencies.

In an interview for the show "Opinion", Yuri Zorin also revealed the last contact he had with the boy before Mikhaili was arrested.

Among other things, he says that his son went on vacation to the Balkans after finishing his studies.

What is your son's profession?

Yuri Zorin: My son, Mikhail Zorin graduated last year from the University of Technological Chemistry in Moscow. He has a bachelor's degree in chemical and technological materials. Then Mikhail decided to continue his studies in Europe. He chose Prague where he studied the Czech language for a year. In June of this year, he entered the School of Technological Chemistry in Prague for his master's studies.

Did you know that your son was traveling to Albania? What was the reason for this trip?

Yuri Zorin: In July, Mikhail started his vacation and decided to take a trip to the Balkan countries. Mikhail likes unorganized tourism, that is, traveling alone. He usually has a bicycle, a backpack and a camping tent. Mikhail is passionate about urban exploration, (Urbex for short). This is about a kind of study of industrial objects, forgotten and forbidden to the rest of society. Usually they are abandoned factories, mines, bunkers, etc. He has a blog on social networks and publishes his photos there. As far as I know, his friends also belong to this community of seekers. Albania attracted Mikhail due to the fact that on its territory there are many objects, especially abandoned bunkers that were built during the Cold War.

Did you know whether he would be alone or accompanied on this trip?

Yuri Zorin: Until August 17 he traveled alone and then met his friends, Svetlana and Fyodor. They continued the journey to Greece together, by car.

During his stay in Albania, did you communicate with your son? And if so, what did it tell you about staying here?

A dini diçka rreth këtij fakti?

A keni patur komunikim me djalin tuaj pas 21 gushtit?

Yuri Zorin: We received the last message from Mikhail on August 20 at around 2 pm. He sent us photos where he told us that it was raining and he and his friends were standing in the car. After that, communication with Mikhail was interrupted. Last week I was in Tirana and I met the lawyer, Mr. Isuf Shehu, who has taken my son for protection. I hoped they would let me meet the boy, but that didn't happen.

Are you planning to be in Tirana for your son's trial?

Yuri Zorin: Of course I will try to come to Albania for the court process, because the whole family is worried about Mikhail. But everything will depend on many technical issues, such as visas, etc. In any case, I believe in law and justice and in the fact that the competent authorities will pursue cases and the ridiculous accusations of espionage will be dropped.
