Two foreign tourists died yesterday while they were exploring Valbona.

It is known that they fell due to the steep terrain and ended up on the slope. In a direct connection with the "Dita Jonë" studio, on A2 CNN, tourist guide Aida Gjeçaj tells why this incident happened.

" They were a group of friends and the other two were the ones who announced the overthrow of their friends. The Valbona pass is straight mountain rock, it is like a straight sheet. If you start from Thethi, that area has no snow, it has melted there. You can walk well there, while there is snow in Valbona.

I think they started from Thethi and didn't know that there was snow afterwards. If they had started from Valbona, they would have seen that there was snow and would not have climbed at all. The rock face from the side of Valbona is all in the shade and there is frozen snow. Only local guides can open the footpath there.

We, every tourist who asks us to cross the Valbona Pass, tell them that it is impassable. The group had no guide with them. Maybe they thought that being from countries with snowy mountains, they could do it without a guide. But the Valbona Pass has frozen snow until July. The moment you set your foot there, the snow can break off a piece. An avalanche can also form behind you. Therefore, it is not recommended to do it without a guide ", said Gjeçaj.

The two girls had started without a guide and after leaving Thethi, they faced the snow that is still present in this area. The girls lost their way and because of the fog, they slipped through the snow and fell down a slope. 

In order to enable the removal of dead bodies, local and border police services, as well as alpine teams, went to the scene in cooperation with Civil Emergencies and the Ministry of Defense.
