The 67th Eurovision Song Contest took place last night, with the first semi-final taking place in Liverpool. Fifteen countries took part in last night's spectacle, but only 10 of them made it to the grand final.
Eurovision consists of three evenings; the two semi-finals 9 and 11 May and finally the final night on 13 May. Albania, which is represented by Albina Kelementi, will perform on May 11, while in order to pass to the finals of this festival, they will need the votes of the public.
Internationally famous Albanian singer Rita Ora also participated in the semi-final, who performed at the opening of the festival. The pop star performed some of her hits, including Anywhere and Praising You.
She was joined on stage by 12-year-old Ukrainian refugee Sofiia, who is now settled in Romania. Ora said Sofia's plight reminded her of her family's experience fleeing the Balkan War in the 1990s.
Ukraine was the country that won to hold the Eurovision festival, but because of the war it took place in Great Britain. But although it took place in Liverpool, the organizers had taken care to include details from Ukraine, starting from this year's logo, which is in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
In the final, Malta, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Ireland and Latvia could not pass, which ended their journey in this song festival.
