The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, has reacted after the serious incident recorded this Tuesday morning in Ksamil, where French tourist Miguel Mendes was stabbed to death by 29-year-old Sokrat Vata.
"The police have managed to arrest in record time the perpetrator of a very serious crime in Ksamil. The loss of the life of a foreign tourist is not in the tradition of the Albanians. They come to Albania in the faith and hospitality of the Albanians. Justice must do its duty and set an example," Balla writes.
Taulant Balla's reaction comes after an operation by the Vlora and Fier Police, which led to the arrest of the 29-year-old in the Levan area.
According to the Police, Vata was found hiding in the trunk of a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Turkish citizen, while a 38-year-old Turkish citizen was also in the vehicle. The three people were taken to the Vlora Police Local Justice for further procedural actions.
The serious incident occurred after a suspected conflict between the French tourist and the 29-year-old, who worked as a bodyguard at the "Principotes" complex. According to preliminary data, the conflict began during a party and then continued outside the premises of the bar, where Mendes was allegedly stabbed.
After the incident, the 29-year-old fled the scene of the crime and was sought by the police. He was located and arrested in Levan, while the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing its work to fully document the circumstances and dynamics of this event.
