In private and without official ceremonies. This was the bequest that academic Rexhep Qosja left to his family for his final farewell.

The announcement of the academic's passing came after his funeral at his final residence, where, as his nephew, Valjet Rexhepi, wrote on social media, the funeral took place in the presence of only close family members.

"We announce that today, on 23.4.2026, Rexhep Qosja passed away and was buried. The funeral took place in the presence of close family members. At the request of the deceased, no reception ceremony will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional organizations. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to mourn in peace!" , announced his nephew.

Academician Rexhep Qosja passed away at the age of 89, leaving behind an important legacy in Albanian culture. He is considered one of the most prominent Albanian intellectuals, with a great contribution to literature, literary criticism and historical studies.

Born on June 25, 1936 in Vuthaj, Montenegro, Qosja is the author of over thirty books with studies on literature and literary criticism, artistic prose, stories, novels and dramas, journalism and polemical writings. He has published reviews, observations, articles, essays, treatises and studies in scientific and literary journals, addressing in them specific issues of Albanian literature and literary creativity in general. Some of his works and works have been translated into other languages.
