The teacher who was raped in Tepelena is accused of sexual harassment, suspended

The Minister of Education Evis Kushi has reacted to the case of the teacher in Tepelena, who allegedly abused a student and was then raped by her relatives.

Kushi declares that the teacher has been suspended from duty and that the student was immediately offered help by the psycho-social service workers and also the directorate and school staff will continue to support the girl and her family to overcome this situation.

She emphasizes that if the guilt is proven, in addition to the punishment by the justice bodies, the responsible persons are permanently excluded from the education system.

MINISTER KUSHI'S REACTION
We have closely followed the event of the last few days in Tepelena, where a teacher was raped, after being accused by the family of abusing their daughter. The teacher has been detained by the police and the Tepelen Education Office has today made the decision to suspend the teacher from work until the investigation is complete.

The student was immediately offered help by psycho-social service workers, and also the directorate and school staff will continue to support the girl and her family, to overcome this situation.

We firmly believe that the justice bodies will quickly clarify the truth of this event and will take the appropriate legal decisions. As we have made known before, our position on these cases is firm and if the guilt is proven, in addition to punishment by the justice bodies, the responsible persons are permanently excluded from the education system.

For this reason, we have included a new article in the Law on Pre-University Education, which will soon be approved by the Parliament of Albania. We will not allow anyone who harms the health and well-being of our students to work in our educational institutions.
