The National Food Authority (AKU) has blocked today, March 12, significant quantities of food products in Tirana that do not meet safety standards.
Specifically, 738 kilograms of chicken meat and chicken breast were seized in the central Tirana warehouse of the KMY company, which had been taken out for thawing, but was kept in conditions that did not comply with food hygiene and storage standards.
Authorities announce that procedures for the disposal of this meat are being prepared, to prevent any potential risk to consumer health.
In addition, in another dairy, the AKU has also seized 328.7 kilograms of goat cheese, stored in inadequate hygienic conditions. Inspectors emphasize that the seized products could cause health problems if consumed by citizens.
This action comes just a few days after another action in the city of Shkodra, where authorities blocked 104 tons of livestock corn imported from Serbia, suspected of high levels of aflatoxin, a toxic substance dangerous to health.
The Shkodra case was discovered after the product was moved from the warehouse without respecting safety procedures, raising concerns about the quality control of imported foods.
The NFA authorities emphasize the importance of respecting all food safety norms and warn market operators of continuous inspections and severe sanctions in case of violation.
