"Sterilization" Affair, Court Overturns SPAK for "Criminal

The Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has announced the verdict for 8 former officials accused in the "Sterilization" case, including former Deputy Minister Klodian Rrjepaj and businessman Ilir Rapaj.

The GJKKO, in its decision, rejected SPAK's claim that the defendants were part of a criminal group.

Thus, Klodian Rrjepaj - former Deputy Minister of Health, has been declared innocent of the charge of a structured criminal group.

He has been found guilty of theft by abuse of office and forgery.

Rrjepaj was sentenced to 4 years in prison, out of the 6 he was wanted for.

Ilir Rrapaj has also been declared innocent of involvement in a criminal group.

Like Rrjepaj, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison, out of the 6 that were requested for him.

Doctor Arben Gjata was meanwhile sentenced to 3.6 years, but it was reduced to 2.4 due to the summary trial.

His sentence has been suspended and he will be on probation for two years.
