For weeks, European health experts have been talking about a serious flu epidemic, after two years of "calm", where seasonal viruses practically disappeared, thanks to mandatory distancing and Covid masks.
The disease (flu) is considered "Australian" precisely because it first appeared in Australia.
Symptoms and treatments
As for the symptoms, they have not changed compared to previous years. The flu remains much the same. Those who become infected have to deal with fever, even high, body aches and dry cough.
As with any virus, medication should be used to alleviate symptoms, such as lowering the temperature with antipyretics and possibly taking anti-inflammatories for body aches.
The antibiotic is only needed if the doctor assesses that a bacterial infection has also developed.
At this moment, in Europe, the most affected by the Australian flu are children, who have filled the emergency rooms.
Crossing with Covid
To complicate the situation is the simultaneous circulation of Covid, which from the point of view of incidence is going through a phase of decline, with stable cases, but which is still present.
Theoretically, both viruses can be acquired at the same time, even if usually only one predominates within the organism.
Has it arrived in Albania?
Until now, the PIH has not announced the arrival of the virus in Albania, however, the suspicions that it is circulating are great, since the neighboring country, Italy, counts nearly 2.5 million affected in a week. For several weeks now, different viruses have been circulating in the country that have affected children, with a high temperature that lasts for several days.
