Today is a day of mourning in Albania, where the national flag will be lowered to half-mast, in honor of the victims of the tragic accident in Greece, including 4 Albanians.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a status on "Facebook", underlined that the tragedy of Greece, where two trains collided with each other, is also the tragedy of our country.

The Foreign Ministry has identified 4 victims of Albanian origin in the ranks of the tragic railway accident in Greece that happened on Tuesday. It is about Ifigenia Micka, Pavlin Bozo, Joanis Xhollas and Klaudia Lata.

The tragic head-on collision of two trains, a freight train and a passenger train near Larissa, which has claimed the lives of at least 57 people so far, some of whom were charred and dismembered, while many others were injured, it happened in the evening hours of February 28.

Intercity train 62 of the Athens-Thessalonica line was passing by the Larissa station shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday (February 28), with 341 passengers and a crew of 13 members. A few minutes later, tragedy struck. Despite the fact that the Athens-Thessalonica railway line is double-tracked, the passenger train collided head-on with an oncoming freight train, causing the first three carriages to derail and burst into flames.
