Euronews Albania has obtained the official financial document of Eric Wendt, the retired American general proposed by the US administration for the position of the new United States ambassador to Albania.
The document published by the US Office of Government Ethics reveals details about the wealth, investments, professional activity and institutional profile of the man expected to take over the leadership of the US embassy in Tirana.
The document shows that Eric Wendt is not a career diplomat in the classical sense, but a figure with a strong military and security profile. He has held important positions in the US defense and special operations structures, while currently continuing his academic activity at the US Naval War College.
His profile is closely linked to the structures of the North Atlantic Alliance and American special operations in Europe, which is being interpreted as a signal that Washington is increasingly seeing Albania as a strategic point in the Balkans.
The document shows that Wendt owns two bank accounts with values ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 each, while also having investments in pension funds, savings funds and shares in large American companies.
The list of investments includes well-known technology and energy names such as Tesla, NVIDIA, AMD, Cisco and Duke Energy. The majority of the investments are focused on the US market and low-risk funds, presenting him as a conservative and non-speculative investor.
One of the most striking details is the fact that Eric Wendt does not declare any financial obligations. In the debts section, the form indicates "none," meaning that there are no loans, mortgages, or other reportable financial obligations.
The document also does not include payments from private military industry companies, consulting contracts, or income from boards of directors and other private sectors. This element is considered important for the ethical verification process that is carried out before the confirmation of the candidacy by the US Senate.
The document also reveals that his wife works at a non-profit center for the visually impaired in California, an element that creates a more social and humanitarian profile for the family of the future American ambassador.
The form was signed by Eric Wendt in February 2026 and was later approved by US ethics officials in April. According to the document, US authorities have not identified any issues or conflicts of interest that could prevent his appointment to Albania.
The selection of a figure with extensive experience in special operations and international security is being seen as an indicator of increased American attention to Albania and the Balkans, at a time when the region remains in the focus of geopolitical and security developments.
