November 29, US Embassy: A Time to Honor Sacrifices
Albania celebrates today the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi occupation in World War II

Albania celebrates today the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi occupation in World War II. The liberators of the country are remembered after they sacrificed their lives for Albania's freedom.

The Prime Minister paid tribute today at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Tirana on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation from Nazi-fascism. The head of state, Bajram Begaj, as well as Speaker Spiropali were also present at the ceremony. Mayor Veliaj, government ministers and majority MPs also participated.

Through a congratulatory message on Facebook, the US embassy writes that it is time to honor the sacrifices and celebrate the resilience that shaped its history.

This year, Albania marks 80 years since its liberation from Nazi occupation in World War II - a time to honor the sacrifices and celebrate the resilience that shaped its history. Happy 80th anniversary of Liberation, Albania! it is written in the message of the American embassy.

During the Second World War, the National Liberation Army of Albania carried out armed uprisings against the occupation of Albania. Albanian politics continues to celebrate the country's Liberation Day separately, even though November 29 is the official date of commemoration of this day.

Leftists observe November 28 as Independence Day and November 29 as Liberation Day, while rightists commemorate both holidays on November 28.
