The Special Court confirms the security measure "prison arrest" for Marsel Liçaj, part of a structured criminal group for heroin trafficking in Denmark.

Judge Rudina Palloj also upheld the "compulsory appearance" measure for Ermal Liçaj. Both of them are suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, and "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or structured criminal group".

According to SPAK, the two brothers from Fier are suspected of having trafficked heroin from Sweden to Denmark at least 7 times. Marsel Licaj and Ermal Licaj have returned to Albania after the arrest in Denmark of 2 other Albanians and a foreign citizen. One of the Albanians arrested in Denmark was their brother-in-law.

According to SPAK, both are accused of the criminal offenses of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed within the framework of a structured criminal group, as well as for participation in a "structured criminal group". The investigations by SPAK have been ongoing since 2024, in close cooperation with the Danish authorities, which in 2023 had launched the "Operation Bacchus" investigation.

The announcement states that the criminal group, composed of Albanians and foreigners, is suspected of having trafficked heroin from Sweden to the Kingdom of Denmark in at least seven episodes, during the period October 1, 2023 - January 23, 2024.

The narcotic was mixed with other substances, such as paracetamol and caffeine, to be then distributed on the Danish market with the aim of increasing profits.
