Maurizio Sarri will leave Lazio two years before the end of his contract. After the 2-1 win over Pisa at the Olimpico, the Italian coach said he had not been heard from by the club's management and is awaiting a meeting with president Claudio Lotito to finalise the deal.
Sarri is expected to next sign with Atalanta, where he will replace Raffaele Palladino on a three-year contract.
Meanwhile, Lazio have reached a preliminary agreement with Gennaro Gattuso, who is expected to sign a two-year contract. The former Italy coach returns to Serie A after stints with Napoli and Milan.
The conflict between Sarri and Lotito is mainly related to the transfer market, as the coach claims that his promises for reinforcements in January were not kept.
Meanwhile, Atalanta is also expected to bring in Cristiano Giuntoli as sporting director, reuniting him with Sarri after his spell at Napoli.
Lotito is also considering the possibility of seeking damages following the coach's recent statements.
