Ernest Muçi was transferred in the limits of the winter market from Legia Warsaw to Besiktas in Turkey. An operation that captured the value of 10 million euros, turning the national team striker into the most expensive player in the history of the Turkish club.
In an interview with the Turkish media, the coach of Legia Warsaw, Kosta Runjaic, emphasized that he was against Muci's departure from the team because he served many of his ideas. Runjaic stated that he would not sell Muci even for the figure of 20 million euros, while adding that he was held hostage by not being able to greet the player since the transfer to Besiktas happened very quickly.
Offers for Ernest Muçi, was there interest from other clubs besides Besiktas?
"We have had many offers for Ernest Muçi since the beginning of the season, it is about clubs from the main leagues in Europe. We expected that a big financial offer would come for him after Muçi excelled in the European Cup matches with Legia. I fought hard for Muçi to stay with Legia, at least until the end of this season. I knew very well that the team would benefit a lot from Muçi and he himself would gain even more attention from his performances with Legia. However, things went in a different direction."
10 million euros for Muci, a record figure for Besiktas. Do you think Muçi deserves such a value?
"It is an impressive figure for both clubs, Besiktas and Legia. However, we expected this figure for someone like Muçi. It is known that for players with this profile the demands are high and the amounts circulating are also high. Muçi offers a lot to the team, he is fast, has the skills of a goalscorer and can score with both feet. Another aspect that favors Muci is that he scores in decisive matches and at critical moments. Thanks to his athletic ability, he provides a lot of pressure in the opposing half. But the most important thing is that Muçi is still very young. Every coach wants to have a player like Muçi in the team. Is 10 million enough for Muci? Muçi was my player, and he was one of the most important. I wouldn't let him get away with the double either, but that's how it works. Muçi is one of those players who can double or triple this value in the coming years".
What advice does Muci have before moving to Besiktas?
"We were in the hotel and we were preparing for the next match in the championship. I spoke to Muchi in a very general way and about the opportunities that might arise in his career. I mentioned Besiktas a bit. In the morning I learned that Muçi was no longer at the hotel, he had left for Istanbul. Legia and Besiktas had reached an agreement during the night. It was one of those transfers where the agreement was reached in a matter of minutes. I was held hostage because I couldn't greet him and meet him physically, but that's part of professional football. I wanted him to seize this opportunity and career chance. I and the entire Legia team wish him much success and luck in this adventure in Besiktas".
