Shades of trickery over the Beijing half-marathon as three Kenyan athletes slowed down to leave China's He Jie in the lead.
The Kenyans were clearly separated from the rest and it seemed that in the last meters they would compete with each other for the first place.
But, unexpectedly, they stopped by "opening their arms" to the Chinese who was declared the winner.
After the end of the race, one of the Kenyans admitted that he had slowed down, but emphasized that he wanted the Chinese to win the race because he was his friend.
However, race officials have already launched an investigation into cheating by Kenyan athletes.
