March 6 local elections, CEC: 47 suspicious cases

The State Election Commissioner, Ilirian Celibashi and the Deputy Commissioner Lealba Pelinku have held a conference regarding the local elections of March 6, 2022.

Pelinku said that 47 suspicious cases related to the voting process have been identified.

Pelinku:  There are 47 suspicious cases divided into three categories. The first case concerns identification, ie the same holder of an identity card was presented at two polling stations. The second category relates to the fingerprint. We have 2 cases when the same fingerprint was read in two different polling stations. A fingerprint relates to more than one identification document. So the voter is presented with an identification tool and then it turns out that with another identification document is associated the same fingerprint. The third case relates to a fingerprint scanned more than once at the same polling station. So the same fingerprint is associated with more than one document.

Celibashi said turnout was 30%.

Celibashi:  The turnout was about 30%, ie 197 thousand voters out of 648 thousand registered voters. The 18-24 age group makes up 10% of the total number of voters, the largest number of voters is the 55-64 age group with 21%. The 40-44 age group has 18% of the total voters. 25-34 years old 17% and age over 65 years old is 19%.
