Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu has reacted after the approval of the Government's plan to establish 20 new immigrant centers in Korça, Gjirokastra and Vlora, where according to the democrat there is a lack of transparency and security guarantees.
According to Balliu, this decision increases the risk for local communities. ' Opening camps with hundreds of people from conflict zones, without consulting citizens, is irresponsible ,' Balliu says.
He further says that he has sent the Ministry of Interior an official written request for detailed information on security measures, police capacities, the reasoning behind the decision, and the cost of the project.
The government has approved a plan to establish 20 new migrant centers in Korça, Gjirokastra and Vlora, without transparency and without security guarantees. This decision increases the risk for local communities at a time when public order is in crisis and the police cannot guarantee basic security in our cities.
Opening camps with hundreds of people from conflict zones, without consulting citizens and without a clear security plan, without transparency, is grave irresponsibility. Albania cannot become an uncontrolled migration corridor while our law enforcement institutions are overloaded and politicized.
For this reason, in my capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense, I have sent the Ministry of Interior an official written request for detailed information on security measures, police capacities, the reasoning behind the decision, and the cost of the project.
Citizens have the right to know what is happening to their security and why the government makes such decisions in secret. Citizens need Albania not to become the country that allows the dumping of all illegal immigrants in the world.
National security must be an absolute priority!
