Tourism/ Rama gathers mayors and ministers: Ambition for 'Albania
Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has gathered ministers and mayors in the framework of security for tourists. Rama said that this year has started with a surprising increase in the number of tourists. Only for the month of March, Rama said that we had 90% more tourists than in March 2023.

According to the head of the government, the ambition for 'Albania 2030', as far as tourism is concerned, is for Albania to reach the number of 20 million tourists.

Many who had reason to question this prediction (10 million tourists) that was not like fortune-telling or like those promises that are often thrown in the air, by people who do this to ask for votes or to ask for support and then he gets winded. It was exactly like those predictions of the election results that are based on factual analysis, concrete data.

Today, if you ask me where Albania will be in 2030 in relation to the number of tourists and if I go back to our very ambitious goal of having 20 million tourists in 2023, I am very afraid that I will be wrong because we will have to see this year and the year next to have security for a 5 year projection. It is not foolish to think that this figure will be reached much earlier and that in 2020 the demand for Albania may reach up to 30 mln. But when we talk about the increase in demand, we must never forget the offer, what will we do today year after year so that our offer responds to the increase and the nature of the demand. To guarantee that this demand will grow and not be hit by the low quality of the offer. We should be concerned about this danger. Albania is not a destination for mass tourism. We don't just need to increase the number of foreign visitors, we need a country that balances all layers and categories of tourists. It is not the numbers that matter, but the quality of the number. Depending on the consumption capacity of a tourist, it is also determined how much interest you have.
