Kosovo-Serbia tensions, Rama: There is a serious risk of a fatal armed clash
Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in a press conference, warned the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia that they are risking "a fatal armed clash between the groups operating in the north of Kosovo and the security forces, which would be a catastrophe, in the middle of which then KFOR should also be included".

" The degradation of the situation in the north, as a result of the continuous clash of the internal policies of the two leaders, Kosovo and Serbia, is increasing the climate of tension by the hour, seriously risking a fatal armed clash between the groups operating in the north of Kosovo and the security forces, which would be a disaster, in the middle of which KFOR would then be involved. Even if this clash lasted 3 hours, it would be fatal for everything that has been done these years, with initiatives and interactions in the Western Balkans, under the umbrella of the Berlin Process. A dramatic reversal for the entire region ," said Rama.

The head of our government repeated that without the release of the 3 Kosovo policemen, "there is no possibility of progress in the dialogue".

" Nor can there be normality in Albania-Serbia relations without their release. They have not committed any crime, but even if they have crossed the border line, it is universally known that for illegal border crossing, people are arrested, questioned and sent back. Keeping them in jail for days is unjustifiable ", Rama emphasized.

" If Serbia has claims about the arrests of members of the Serbian minority in Kosovo, these are not argued by holding 3 Albanian police officers hostage, but by cooperating with the international factor ," added the prime minister.
According to him, there is only one winner from the Kosovo-Serbia clash: Russia.
