With 34% of the vote, a poll by the Interview company for the Politike newspaper in Greece has declared Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' "New Democracy" the winner, 48 hours before Sunday's European elections.
Even deeper is the percentage when the question is asked about the person who is most suitable for prime minister, as Kyriakos Mitsotakis comes first with 40%, followed by the head of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis with 17% and Nikos Androulakis with 7%.
Scary is the gap between New Democracy and SYRIZA, with the largest opposition party in Greece following it with 18%. According to the survey, PASOK will rank third with 13%.
The same survey has also calculated the vote for each of the candidates for Eurodeputy of New Democracy and SYRIZA, and the surprise is the name of Fredi Beleri.
Selected by Mitsotakis as a candidate after being convicted in Albania for vote-buying, the elected mayor of Himara ranks second with 30.7% and the chances of him being a Greek MEP in the new European Parliament are relatively high.
Another name of the Greek minority in Albania is the winner according to the survey. The former weightlifter, at the same time the Olympic champion for the Hellenes, Pirro Dhima is 9th with 15.7% and the last to cross the threshold for the MEP.
