Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted after the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani by his peer near the door of the "Fan Noli" school in the capital.
The head of the government, in a conference, emphasized the impact of social networks on children and teenagers as he added that the closure of " SnapChat and TikTok " will be taken in consultation with the council of parents in schools.
Edi Rama : Each of us must take on more responsibility in our part of the throne for the protection of children, it starts within the walls of the house, continues inside the school, and then on the TV screens where most of them shed crocodile tears are in fact irresponsible purveyors of the language of violence and its instigators. Including the hall of Parliament, which is an open school of violence and its instigator.
I assure the parents that I personally in my part of the front together with the government colleagues do all possible things to relieve our children from the heavy pressure of social networks and to increase the quality of social networks.
I look forward to the outcome of the parent consultation as to which approach we should take for TikTok SnapChat or both.
From our research, they are the two most fertile sources of perversion, of inciting violence and acts of bullying, up to and including tragedies like this last one, from which we must all come together as a society and as a state with the most effective response.
