Prime Minister Edi Rama started today what he calls the "thanksgiving tour", after the local elections of May 14, where the socialists managed to win 53 municipalities, out of 61 in total.

Rama's first stop was in Shkodër, where the left won a historic victory, the first in 32 years of democracy. In one of Shkodra's bars, the prime minister held a meeting with the newly elected mayor Benet Beci and the new members of the Municipal Council.

Rama advised Beci on how to act after taking office as mayor. He said that there should be no movement in working positions in the municipality, adding that there should be a meritocratic assessment for everyone. He said that the most difficult part after the victory of Shkodra for the first time after 30 years, is the repetition of the victory, because of the great work that must be done in order for people to fully believe.

"A meritocratic evaluation should be done, girls and women should be motivated. This is the first time they have voted for SP. The vote is secret because he had to enter that box several times to convert his heart. I don't know what he did but you will have a lot of pressure, you have to keep it, you have to make a municipality for all the citizens of Shkodra if you want them to support you as they supported you because you can win once, but to repeat the victory is difficult. One thing you should know from me, that every time I have come here asking for votes, I have eaten my cheeks. This time they won you with their mind not with their heart, they don't give their heart because they have it on the right as your business, but they take it and put it in the center. In the campaign what you consider the hardest part is easier, in the office it is more difficult,- said Rama.
