The Central Election Commission has divided the funds that political parties benefit from from the state budget, where the SP has provided most of the "cake", while the "Reestablishment" of Sali Berisha has not received a single lek .
The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celbashi , stated that the amount that political parties benefit from the state budget for 2024 is as follows:
Socialist Party 151,494,783 ALL
Democratic Party 106,661. 181 ALL
Republican Party 11,488,669 ALL
The Legality Movement Party 8,180,647 ALL
Freedom Party 15,577,215 ALL
Social Democratic Party 12,266,269 ALL
"Each of them will receive the amount on the condition that they have submitted to the CEC by March 31 the financial report on expenses and income for the past year, 2023. Otherwise, these funds will not be distributed ," said Celibashi.
The annual funds are determined based on the number of deputies and votes that each political force received in the last parliamentary battle.
The total amount that political parties benefit from the state budget is 345 million lek, and the "lion's" share was taken by the Socialist Party, which managed to secure the necessary support to govern alone. The 74 mandates won translate into 151 million ALL for the pink seat.
Since the parliamentary elections of 2021, which determines the amount of lek collected by each party based on the number of deputies and votes, the amount is the same.
The difference for this year is that the parties are more hungry for lek, since 2024 is an election year. As the force with the largest number of cards in the Parliament, the Socialist Party will have over 151 million ALL to spend. With a not deep margin is the Democratic one, with over 106 million ALL.
The difference with the socialists is that all the money goes to the coffers of Lulzim Basha, who today is supported by a minority of democratic deputies. This means that even for this year the supporters of the two groups Gazmend Bardhi and Sali Berisha will remain empty-handed.
In the coffers of the Freedom Party, the CEC will pour over 15 million ALL. After the big three comes Tom Doshi. His three social-democratic deputies are worth over 12 million ALL. Parties with zero representation in Parliament also benefit from the state budget for politics. The law enables them to do this.
It is enough for them to have received over 10,000 votes in the last elections and their coffers are filled with money. For example, for "Nisma Thurje" over 6 million ALL.
From the "cake" of 345 million ALL, the beneficiaries are 11 parties. For ten of them, the financiers have found it less complicated to spend the annual budget. The Democratic Party of Lulzim Basha will have to wait until the end of March, when the balance of the previous year is submitted, to understand how it will spend the next 106 million.
The annual funds are determined based on the number of deputies and votes that each political force received in the last parliamentary battle.
The Freedom Party in the last parliamentary elections went down to the level of 2009, securing only 4 mandates, which translates into less money for the party coffers, about 15 million ALL, meanwhile for the three mandates of the PSD, it means 12 million ALL in the party treasury.
In addition to the big parties, money will also benefit the competing entities, which, although they failed to secure a seat in the Parliament, crossed the threshold of votes to benefit from the "bag" of money allocated by the state budget.
Last year's local elections found Berisha without campaign funds. At that time, 102 million lek went to the official PD, which was led by Enkelejd Alibeaj, who competed in only 14 municipalities.
The clash between the right seems to return when the CEC is dividing the budget for the next 12 months. From the 345 million ALL fund, SP and DP will share about two-thirds, followed by the Freedom Party.
The representatives of the force led by Berisha did not participate in the session, but the PDIU had claims about the amount.
The decision on the distribution of funds will be given on Tuesday as the CEC will verify the claims of the party led by Shpëtim Idrizi.
