The first round of voting for the election of the new President of the Republic will be exhausted without any candidate. This was announced at this morning's meeting of the Law Commission, convened to review the candidacies for the election of the head of state.

In his speech, Enkelejd Alibeaj stated that the majority has been informed that the process must meet certain criteria, in order for the President to represent the unity of the people.

The first obligation is that of an honest process. An ubiquitous President is needed! This process must be conducted on a consensual basis.

The majority does not have the numbers, much less the legitimacy to continue undisturbed for the unilateral election of the President of the Republic. We are waiting for your position, are you for the election of the President in the spirit of the Constitution? For the process not to turn into a political game within the Parliament and to show that you have the desire to give the citizens the first citizen.

This failure of this first round rests on your shoulders. An hour ago you had to take a stand, not just for the election of the President. Time is ahead we are waiting for the stay to see what product will come out.

According to Alibeaj, the whole process has been a farce and hypocrisy. The reaction of the head of the Democratic parliamentary group came after the chairwoman of the commission, Klotilda Bushka, stated that the Law Commission has concluded that there is no candidacy.

The first round is considered completed without voting. For the purpose of the regulation, we will need to ascertain this fact, in order to present it to the Assembly first.
