The Speaker of the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, has welcomed the adoption of the report on Albania in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament. In a statement to the media from the Presidency of the Parliament, Spiropali said that the MEPs support the closure of the negotiations by 2027.
"They supported Albania's objective of concluding negotiations by 2027. It was a significant fact that the deputies of the assembly were present, both from the majority and the opposition. A vital process for our country. I see it as evidence of a universally accepted truth in Albania, that despite different ideological ideas on the development model. This remains a national priority," said Spiropali.
Our commitment is not political, but a work calendar agreed upon with the EU.
There is also a comment on Sali Berisha's statements that 'blackened' Albania at the EPP summit.
"First, regarding a phenomenon that, even while refraining, I am describing as a black spot on Albanian political behavior and discourse. I strongly condemn the efforts of those who leave nothing undone, no stone unturned and no word unsaid for their country. I am talking about the missionaries who, after having tarnished their name and face, have destroyed everything around them, have returned with vigor to tarnish and ruin the name of Albania and the Albanians as well. And with the bitterness of a bitter loser, they have set out to desecrate the name of Albania and every Albanian inside and outside the country, the reputation of our common land with conspiracy theories, ridiculous accusations, and untruths invented as a last-ditch effort for political survival. I do not believe that anyone needs illustrations because we see every day the absurd pilgrimage of traveling with a leaflet under their armpits drafted in Tirana that is sold to Albanians as a resolution of this or that organization that is in fact only the latest tract against Albania's progress and its image. Above such desperate attempts stands noble Albania."
