In a statement before the meeting started, the prime minister gave a statement to the media. He called today's opening day of negotiations "extremely exciting"

"We will make Albania ready for the EU by 2030," he said to Report TV.

Rama further said that Albania is determined to be part of the EU and we are moving with clear ideas, good and strong will to achieve what we want.

" We are very determined to enter the EU. We have been determined since the moment when the dictatorship was overthrown in Albania. For us, the EU is the only place where we want to live and we want our children to live and it is the only place where democracy is guaranteed It is a task and a mountain that must be climbed and we are already moving with clear ideas, good and strong will to achieve what we want Albania to integrate by 2030. I want to thank Vladimir Putin for waking up from his sleep and the most skeptic and made him wake up to the reality that the Western Balkans is necessary for a stronger EU as much as the EU constellation is necessary for the Western Balkans ".
