Albania must close negotiations with the European Union by 2027.
This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama declared today during the meeting with the youth of units 1, 2 and 3 in Tirana for Albania 2030 in the EU.
Rama singled out the May parliamentary elections as unique, compared to previous ones. May 11, for the Prime Minister, is an encounter with history. Referring to Albania's journey to the European Union.
"It doesn't happen that you go to a meeting with history during elections. In general, you go to a meeting to give your opinion at the moment when the people are called to vote. In general, it is decided what will happen to the economy, education, salary increases or healthcare," said Rama.
Rama said that "these negotiations until 2027 are the fastest negotiations in the history of the EU after a very special case that was Finland that did them in one year. Three years of negotiations, they can tell you what this story is, 12 years ago Edi Rama says he will take you to the EU and now he says give me four more because 12 didn't work out for me. But Montenegro, which was far ahead of us when we took office in 2013, had started negotiations in 2012, why is it not in the EU? Since Edi Rama is to blame here, so is North Macedonia, which became a candidate in 2005."
"We became candidates after we took over Albania and we became candidates because no one came close. But Serbia, which opened negotiations in 2014, is not in the EU. Because negotiations with the EU are a bilateral relationship, you do your duties, they all have to agree," said Rama.
"For their own reasons, besides the fact that we have done our duties, they have opened the door and opened the door, and just as we want to enter for the first time since 1991, they also want us to be taken in."
"But this means that that open door does not stay open indefinitely. It is a door, it is open and they have put forward a plan and told us that by 2027 we want to close the negotiations with you, which means we have to work day and night every day to open all these negotiations and close them by 2027 ," Rama said.
He further advised citizens to do a simple internet search to understand what he believes the Democratic Party represents.
"Search on Google, Democratic Party 1997. Democratic Party 1998, 2008, DP 2011. 4 dates so that it doesn't get too long. January 21, DP. September 14, 1998. Go to YouTube for fun, go in and see if you probably don't know everything. There is no question about the election," Rama declared.
