"Pork soup" on the justice menu, that's what Prime Minister Edi Rama has called prosecutor Ols Dado's investigation into Erion Veliaj.

During his speech at a ceremony, Rama said that he will not allow a prosecutor to abuse his office by violating the dividing lines between powers.

Earlier, Rama said that the SPAK prosecutor intimidated witnesses who were called during the investigations conducted for Veliaj.

Excerpt from Rama's speech:

There is no longer any reason not to express critical opinions. Our silence has been misunderstood, not only by the enemies of the justice reform, but it has been misunderstood, it seems to me, by some consumers of the reform, who, despite the very special privileges that have been granted to them by the reform, today have extraordinary privileges, in relation to everyone else. There is talk of the salaries of deputies, but the salaries of deputies do not compare to their salaries, for example. So, these consumers, some consumers, should spare the state and society the pork soup on the justice menu.

Therefore, I believe, sharing critical opinions with the community from the justice system and at the same time with the public openly, transparently is the most useful thing we can do now in this new phase to prevent certain individuals from giving themselves the right to abuse the office of prosecutor or judge, violating the dividing lines between constitutional powers, in the name of our major goal of independence of justice from political power.
