Minister of Agriculture Andis Salla, in today's interpellation in Parliament, said that during 2025, 32 samples were analyzed for aflatoxin, and that 13 of them resulted non-compliant, saying that measures were taken and products were blocked in all these cases.

During his speech, Salla emphasized that the goal is to guarantee food safety and quality to the Albanian consumer.

Salla: Albania today has a complete legal basis harmonized with the EU. The system in place is controlled by the AKU. Controls are dynamic processes that follow the product from farm to table, verifying hygiene and sanitary standards. In 2025, 40 fines were imposed and 6 establishments were suspended from activity, so where there are violations, there are measures. During 2025, 32 samples were analyzed for aflatoxin M1 in milk, 13 resulted non-compliant and in all cases, measures were imposed and products were blocked. So the system reacted in time, we must understand that aflatoxin in milk comes mainly from contaminated food. Therefore, we have extended the control to the entire chain.
