At the government meeting this Wednesday, the decision to extend the deadline for expired documents was approved.

All citizens with expired passports or ID cards can vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha:  The government approved a very important act to extend the validity of identity cards and biometric passports. This created situation, which will very quickly resolve the entire impasse, is about 500 thousand Albanian citizens whose identity cards have expired.

In this way, with the approval of this act, all Albanian citizens abroad will have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote as a constitutional right. All citizens will vote according to the instructions of the CEC, by registering on the electronic platform.
